QUEENSFORSAKEN
I am seeking representation for QUEENSFORSAKEN, a sapphic adult fantasy complete at approximately 127,000 words. This manuscript explores the relationship between divinity and monstrosity, royalty and religion in a high fantasy setting, appealing to readers of Kristin Cashore’s GRACELING Realm and T. Kingfisher’s SAINT OF STEEL series.
There is something wrong in the Sisterlands. The four Queendoms have been ruled by goddess-like Queens for centuries, but now their magic is fading.
Mina, Princess of Reemia, has been cursed with a dead mother and no magic to speak of. Lottie, a peasant from the warrior Queendom of Kvedwulf, has a bad reputation, the affection of Prince Arkyn, and a new role in teaching Mina the ways of her bloodthirsty people. Together, they try to prepare Mina for the throne, her marriage to Arkyn, and a strange new future without magic. They may have been able to rise to the occasion, if only the dragon hadn’t stolen Mina away on her wedding day.
Mina finds herself under the dubious care of a dragon, far away from her tower and strict father. Lottie, left behind, has no time to mourn as she tries to prevent a brewing war. The two girls do their best to sort out the web of magic, conspiracy, and curses that they find themselves tangled in, but their best might not be enough under the machinations of a conquering King.
QUEENSFORSAKEN has sequel and spin-off potential.
